The Joe's Pond Association is a voluntary group of lakefront property owners with a deeded right-of-way to Joe's Pond. The Association exists for the purpose of improving the surroundings of the lake and promoting the general welfare.
The Joe’s Pond Association (JPA) is pleased to announce that its Greeter Program for the 2024 season is underway at the boat launch on Route 2 in West Danville. The purpose of the state-wide program is to educate boaters, inspect watercraft and trailers, and prevent the introduction of various invasive aquatic species into our lakes and ponds.
Greeters and program coordinators are required to complete in-person or online training with state biologist Olin Reed prior to the opening of each season. Throughout the season, they collect and report data to the state via the Survey123 app.
The Greeter program is made possible with financial support from the towns of Danville, Walden, and Cabot as well as from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Aquatic Nuisance Control (ANC) Grant-in-Aid funding.
Controlling nuisance and invasive species is a crucial factor in maintaining the health and recreational potential of Vermont’s lakes and ponds. Boater education, cooperation, and vigilant implementation of proper practices are also crucial, along with local and state funding.
Let’s have a great summer on the pond!
