Since 1979 Joe's Pond has been involved with a volunteer water quality monitor program. The State has given the volunteers training and support to submit actual samples to the State. Originally the program was doing a Secchi disk reading which gives a water clarity number that is an indicator of the amount of phosphorus in the water. Currently, the volunteers take the Secchi disk reading along with two water samples, one for phosphorus and one for chlorophyll, and send the samples to the State. Weekly water sampling is conducted between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with reports published in October. View the links below to see the 2021 results:
